At this conference, we will explore the metaphysics of grounding in relation to the nature of consciousness, meaning, and understanding in natural and artificial minds. Topics to be discussed include (but are not limited to): What is the nature of conscious experience? Can artificial minds be phenomenally conscious? What is the nature of understanding? Can artificial minds understand? What is the nature of the grounding relation? Can artificial minds ground meaning relations? What kinds of self knowledge do humans possess? What kinds of self knowledge can artificial minds possess, if any?
